What is Broadcast Voice DSP?
It's the same real-time mic processing technology used in BEACN Mic and BEACN Studio. EQ, compression, noise suppression, gating, de-essing, and dynamics control -- all running on the headset itself. No plugins, no software, no latency. Your voice sounds clear and polished the moment you start talking.
What is Binaural Personalization?
Binaural Personalization is our multi-band parametric EQ that lets you shape how your headphones sound, as well as your Subwoofer preference. You get 10 bands per ear, adjustable independently left and right, because your ears don't hear the same way. Think of it like a prescription for your hearing instead of your eyes.
How does the mic compare to a desktop mic like BEACN Mic or an SM7B?
Let's be real -- physics matters. A full-sized studio microphone has advantages that a small headset capsule can't replicate. But BEACN Headset has the most powerful and flexible mic processing chain of any headset on the market. It's omni polar pattern also gives a very natural voice sound, whereas a large diaphragm dynamic mic provides more isolation it often requires more EQ to sound natural. BEACN Headset's mic doesn't need to replace your desk mic for a studio session, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of any other headset mic you've used.
Do I need the BEACN App to use it?
Nope. Out of the box, the onboard controls give you volume, Subwoofer level, chat mix, and mic monitor -- the essentials, without needing to install anything. The BEACN App unlocks the full Broadcast Voice DSP and Binaural Personalization EQ controls when you want to go deeper.
What devices does BEACN Headset work with?
Pretty much everything. Wireless and USB work with PC and Mac. Bluetooth connects to phones, tablets, TVs, and anything else that supports it. The analog input plugs into game controllers and handheld devices.
Does BEACN Headset work with Mac?
Yes. Wireless, USB, and Bluetooth all work with Mac. The BEACN App for BEACN Headset is Windows only at launch, but the headset's onboard controls and saved settings work everywhere -- so any tuning you've done on PC carries over.
What is the Subwoofer Algorithm?
It's our custom low-frequency processing that delivers deep, musical bass without the muddy side effects of simple bass boosting. It gives you that concert-level weight and energy you can feel, not just hear. Adjustable from subtle to powerful using the onboard controls or the BEACN App.
What about noise cancellation?
BEACN Headset uses mechanical noise isolation through its construction and ear pad materials. This approach is 100% reliable -- no weird artifacts, no flapping sounds from ANC getting confused by low-frequency noise like HVAC. You always know exactly what you're going to get. And with two sets of ear pads included, you can choose more isolation or a more open feel depending on your environment.
What about surround sound / Dolby Atmos?
Like virtually all headsets, BEACN Headset uses stereo drivers. Surround sound applications like Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic work great with BEACN Headset and are available through the Windows Store. Bonus: if you use our mixing ecosystem with BEACN Mix Create, you can choose which audio sources get surround and which don't. Surround on your game but not your music? Done.
